Almirah Design

 Until the industrial period, almirah design were handcrafted from wood by carpenters for a specific customer and location. Ancient almirah design were large and unwieldy, and difficult to move outside of the room or grounds. When full of stored stuff, the hefty almirah was nearly hard to transport anywhere. It was essential to access the disguised, secret, and various locking mechanisms and unload the contents in order to arrange any shift. Almirahs were essentially immovable safe keeping units in the huge premises of a church or castle. Despite its size and weight, the almirah was hauled away as a prized capture during invasions. During immigration, the almirah was removed as part of the baggage.
